Erie, Harborcreek and Millcreek, PA
The field of dentistry always is evolving. Dentists who provide the highest level of care always are working to learn and improve. Your Erie dentist Dr. Albert Starr regularly pursues continuing education and new training opportunities in order to raise the level of service provided at Laser Dentistry of Erie, LLC. As part of that commitment, Dr. Starr recently went to Las Vegas and completed the examination to obtain a fellowship from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.
Regarded as the pre-eminent educational institution in North America for post-graduate dental training, the LVI is a popular destination for dentists from all over the world. The institute is highly regarded for the instruction available in the specialties of cosmetic dentistry and neuromuscular dentistry. The curriculum often is updated to reflect the latest technological advances, procedures, and techniques in the field of dentistry.
Becoming an LVI Fellow is no easy feat. Applicants must complete the LVI CORE Curriculum, which consists of a minimum of 279 hours of continuing dental education, focusing on the fields of advanced aesthetics and physiologic science. The final step in the process is passing a comprehensive examination, which is the test Dr. Starr traveled to Las Vegas to take.
A graduate of Westminster College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Starr also completed post-graduate study at Gannon University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine before graduating dental school at Temple University in May of 2009 and joined his father at Laser Dentistry of Erie, LLC. He also currently is an active member of both the Academy of General Dentistry and The International Association of Physiologic Aesthetics.
What does it mean to become an LVI Fellow?
If you see a dentist that has obtained a fellowship from the Las Vegas Institute, you can be confident that that dentist has learned the latest principles and techniques of both cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry. The institute also emphasizes the philosophy that no two patients, and no two smiles, are alike. An LVI Fellow will tailor your program of treatment to your own unique needs, goals, finances, and schedule.
LVI Fellows possess the training to incorporate neuromuscular beliefs into everything they do. This means each treatment decision is made by also considering the effect on the health and alignment of the jaw. The end result is treatments that look and function at their best while seeking to maintain or restore the ideal alignment of your bite and jaw. Being an LVI Fellow means better, more advanced treatment of TMJ and Sleep Apnea in Erie.
