Meet The Team

Dr. Allen Starr
Dr. Starr is a graduate of Gannon University and Georgetown School of Dentistry.  In 1977 he began his private practice in Erie, PA and has remained on the cutting edge of dentistry, embracing new technologies as they became available.  Dr. Starr was the first dentist to introduce the Dental Laser to the city in 1990 when the FDA approved the Nd Yag Laser.  

Dr. Starr was the first dentist to introduce Dental Lasers to Erie in 1990.  For 3 years he taught Laser Dentistry for American Dental Laser, teaching other dentists this new method of addressing some common (and some not-so-common) dental needs.  He is a member and one of the founders of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the benchmark of the best Laser Dentists in the world.   He has continued to remain in the forefront with new technologies, being the only dentist in Erie with 5 different lasers of different wavelengths. 

Dr. Starr is an avid outdoor enthusiast.  When not in the office, he enjoys playing golf, hunting and flying.

Dr. Albert Starr
Dr. Albert Starr began his education by attending Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. After he completed his bachelor"s degree, he studied post-graduate work at Gannon University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Starr has most recently graduated Dental School from Temple University in May 2009 and has joined his father in the family business which began over 33 years ago.

Dr. Starr has continued to strive for excellence in and out of the office. He takes pride in his knowledge of the latest advancements and technology in the field. Dr. Starr also continues to develop his skills and level of proficiency by attending the seminars and national conferences led by many reputable dental practitioners. Currently, Albert is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Albert Starr's areas of interest include cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He remains dedicated to the detail and quality of his work.

Outside the office, Albert enjoys being outdoors whether in the woods, on the water, on his bike or on the golf course.   He also enjoys spending time with his family and their beloved German Shorthaired Pointer "Remmie."

Prevention and Oral Health Maintenance
At our office, we believe preventative dental care and maintenance is vital to your dental health. Through regular scheduled exams we check the overall health of your teeth and gums, perform oral cancer screenings, and perform x-rays to detect problems before they worsen. Routine dental cleanings, sealants, and fluoride treatments help prevent cavities and dental disease. We review your medical history to assess your overall health and identify any illnesses that may have an impact on your dental health.

Office Sterilization and Safety Procedures
We want to ensure the health of our patients and our dental team. Our practice follows safety procedures recommended by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:

• Using disinfectant hand soap
• Wearing gloves, masks, glasses and/or face shields
• Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
• Sterilization of all non-disposable instruments and equipment before every use
• Chemical disinfection of all items which cannot be sterilized
• Use of disposable plastic coverings and sheath over surfaces with high contact such as the dental chair, equipment, air/water syringe and light handles.

Training & Expertise
Our dental team is comprised of highly trained and skilled professionals who are licensed and certified. At our practice, we are committed to continuing education and learning.  We regularly attend training classes, dental lectures, and dental conventions so we can offer the latest dental techniques, procedures, products and equipment to our patients. We are also active members in various dental associations - this helps our office keep up with changes and advances in the dental profession.
